What you need before you start
- Applicant's NIF (Tax Identification Number)
- Cartão de Cidadão (Citizen Card) or Chave Móvel Digital
- Income certificates (for financial support)
- Rental contract (if applicable)
Step by step
Go to www.portaldahabitacao.pt
Navigate to the 'Apoios' (Support) area to view available programmes
For Porta 65 (youth rental support): click on the programme and read the requirements
Check your eligibility (age, income, residence in Portugal)
Click 'Candidatar' (Apply) and authenticate with CMD or Cartão de Cidadão
Fill in the application form with contract details and income information
Upload the required scanned documents
Wait for application validation (may take 30–90 days)
