Candidatura ao Ensino Superior (Higher Education Application)
Apply to Portuguese higher education through DGES. National application process for universities and polytechnics.
What you need before you start
- Cartão de Cidadão (Citizen Card)
- NIF (Tax Identification Number)
- National Secondary School Exam results (Exames Nacionais)
- Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Grades for specific subjects
Step by step
Check the national application dates at www.dges.gov.pt (usually July–August)
Review the entry averages for your desired courses
Go to the application platform and authenticate
Rank your preferred course/institution pairs by preference (max. 6)
Enter your national exam results
Pay the application fee and submit
Wait for the 1st phase results (early August)
If placed, enrol within the deadline set by the institution
