Typical processing time

Prescriptions, declarations and clinical records are often available quickly, but appointments and medical responses still depend on your local health unit.

Costs and official fees

Access to the portal and app is free. Any consultation or healthcare charge depends on NHS rules and the specific provider.

Mistakes worth avoiding
  • Using SNS 24 for immediate emergencies instead of calling 112.
  • Keeping outdated phone or contact details and missing important notifications.
  • Assuming every appointment can be booked online without checking local availability.
Frequently asked questions

Can I use SNS 24 for urgent medical help?

You can use the SNS 24 line for triage and advice, but life-threatening emergencies should go to 112 straight away.

Does the personal area replace my health centre?

No. It is useful for prescriptions, declarations and some requests, but many services still depend on your local health unit or doctor.
