Comprovativo de Morada (Proof of Address)
Obtain a proof of address (tax domicile certificate) online and free of charge through Portal das Finanças. A document frequently required for school enrolments, banks and contracts.
What you need before you start
- NIF (Tax Identification Number / Número de Identificação Fiscal)
- Portal das Finanças password or Chave Móvel Digital
- Updated address on tax records
Step by step
Go to www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt and authenticate
In the search bar, type 'certidão' (certificate)
Click 'Pedir Certidão' (Request Certificate)
Select the type: 'Domicílio Fiscal' (Tax Domicile)
Click 'Obter' (Obtain) — the PDF document is generated immediately
Download and save the certificate (it is free)
Alternatively: use a water, electricity or internet bill as informal proof
For proof via Junta de Freguesia (Parish Council): bring ID, proof of residence and 2 witnesses
