DGES – Study Grants
Apply for higher education study grants through DGES. Financial support for students with fewer resources.
What you need before you start
- NIF of the student and parent/guardian
- NISS of the student and household members
- Household income data (IRS tax return or other documents)
- Proof of enrolment in higher education
- IBAN for grant payment
Step by step
Go to www.dges.gov.pt and click on the 'Bolsas de Estudo' (Study Grants) area
Read the eligibility criteria (income, academic status, etc.)
Click 'Candidatar' (Apply) and authenticate with CMD or Cartão de Cidadão
Fill in the application form with household data
Enter the household's annual income
Upload the required scanned documents
Submit the application within the deadline (usually September–October)
Track the application status in the restricted area
