Recenseamento Eleitoral (Voter Registration)
Check and update your voter registration. Required to vote in elections and referendums in Portugal. Registration is automatic for citizens with a Citizen Card.
What you need before you start
- Valid Cartão de Cidadão (Citizen Card) with updated address
- NIF (Tax Identification Number)
- For checking: only the Citizen Card number is needed
Step by step
Go to www.recenseamento.mai.gov.pt
Click 'Consultar Inscrição' (Check Registration) to verify if you are registered
Enter your Citizen Card number and date of birth
Check the parish where you are registered and your voter number
If the address is outdated: update the address on your Citizen Card (the registration updates automatically)
Portuguese citizens abroad: can register at the consulate
European citizens in Portugal: can register to vote in local and European elections
Registration is required to vote in legislative, presidential, local and European elections
