Registo Criminal (Criminal Record Certificate)
Obtain your criminal record certificate online. Required for job applications, visas and legal proceedings.
What you need before you start
- Cartão de Cidadão (Citizen Card) or Chave Móvel Digital
- NIF (Tax Identification Number)
- Reason for request (employment, personal purposes, etc.)
Step by step
Go to the Criminal Record portal or ePortugal
Search for 'Certificado de Registo Criminal' (Criminal Record Certificate)
Click 'Pedir Certificado de Registo Criminal' (Request Criminal Record Certificate)
Authenticate with Cartão de Cidadão or CMD
Indicate the reason for the request (e.g. personal purposes, employer)
Choose digital delivery (immediate PDF) or postal delivery
Pay the fee (free for personal purposes in some cases)
Download or wait to receive the certificate
