Portal access is immediate, but benefit claims, contribution updates and case reviews can take days or even weeks depending on the request.
There is no fee to access Seguranca Social Direta. The portal only gives access to benefits and records that already exist under Portuguese law.
- Not checking IBAN, address and contact details before applying for a benefit.
- Submitting an application without the required attachments or with unreadable documents.
- Treating a pending status as a rejection without reading the portal notifications first.
Can I handle everything through Seguranca Social Direta?
No. Many procedures can start online, but some still require supporting evidence, extra documents or later validation by Social Security services.
Why is my process not updating right away?
Some requests go through manual review. Keep checking the portal inbox and respond quickly if the service asks for more information.
